The master plan conforms to the downtown plan by respecting the Sixth Avenue view corridor, celebrating the “old” commercial spine of Fifth Avenue, and offering a new park at Eighth Avenue. Likewise, the internal functions of the expanded center provide a seamless transition with 250,000 SF of new addition exhibit hall, as well as pre-function and truck dock space. The union of new and old is celebrated on the building’s second level with a new 40,000 GSF ballroom which affords views of downtown and San Diego Bay.
