Urban Design Study for an existing 2.3 acre church campus for a new mixed use, 134 unit senior housing project. Located on a heavily traveled east/west transportation/retail corridor, this new housing would be a complement to an existing eight story, gracefully aged senior housing building on the campus. The plan calls for utilizing existing parking lots for the new development with new multilevel and partially below grade 225 space parking garage replacing the lots. Housing commons, church functions and potential retail will occupy the ground/street level. The challenge is designing the form and articulation of the much taller new housing component to complement and enhance the urban presence of the smaller existing church sanctuary.
