Nicole received her B.S. in Architecture (Magna Cum Laude) and Bachelor of Architecture from City College of New York, CUNY. She received her M.S. in Architecture and Urban Design from the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation at Columbia University.
After graduating from Columbia University, she applied for and was awarded the AIA Stewardson Keefe LeBrun Travel Grant to study and document the changes that have taken place to some temporary emergency housing built in Grenada, West Indies after hurricane Janet in 1955. This research work involved assessing the social, economic and political influences that have shaped the transformations these houses have undergone.
Nicole’s role at M+C integrates the three areas in which she has considerable experience: administration, urban design and research. She is in charge of coordinating the administrative staff to support the daily activities of the firm, and to maximize efficiency and productivity. She also provides advanced marketing and conducts research in the areas of urban design and planning particularly in San Diego’s urban neighborhoods. To date, she has completed urban design analyses for the Fifteen and Market housing project, the Kettner and Grape mixed-use project, a National City development site and the Lane Field Master Plan development.
Prior to joining M+C in 2004, Nicole was the Urban Design Associate and Assistant Director at Columbia University’s Urban Technical Assistance Project. In this capacity, she conducted community-based planning and design projects targeted at community revitalization in urban neighborhoods. A significant part of this work involved coordinating the work done by graduate student interns from the architecture, urban design and planning programs at Columbia University, and consultants.
